Description
The Cable Pro ™ enables the user to check continuity between cable pins.
Each Cable Pro unit has 75 pins arranged with 3 female DB 25 connectors which will support testing continuity between 37 wires, or 75 wire ends.
The user will fabricate adapters between the Cable Pro plugs and the plugs that mate with the cable to be tested.
As many units as needed to make up the number of required pins. Each CP1 unit is powered by the USB cable. If more units are required than are available on the host computer they can be connected to a powered hub.
The Cable Pro is controlled by the Cable View (CV) program. CV works by reading a connection diagram created within CV. It sets one end of a net list (wire end) to a logic high. Then it reads every other pin to determine which other pins are also high indicating continuity. It detects proper connections, missing connections and improper connections which allows rapid testing (only seconds for hundreds of connections)
It supplies printed documentation of testing results.
The best use of the Cable Pro is to test cables that are manufactured repeatedly as opposed to ad hoc cables in an aircraft installation.
One very good use for avionics installations is to connect to a plug. When the other end is touched with a probe connected to the Cable Pro, the computer will audibly annunciate the pin number.
