It reduces coolant mist recirculating through the router that can form a conductive path to ground which trips the GFI
It reduces coolant splashing on the Z axis linear bearings.
It is easy to install and remove when using accessories such as the EG2 engraver, Measure Pro, or LZ1 laser.
It provides structure to tighten against for the accessory mount screw so that it does not vibrate out when cutting or bend the accessory mount when nothing is mounted to tighten against.
It provides a convenient support for the coolant nozzle to keep it pointed in the correct direction.
